What Size Is a Step and Repeat Backdrop?
The standard step and repeat backdrop is 10 ft wide by 8 ft tall — 120″ × 96″. A complete kit with the graphic and an adjustable stand is $379; the graphic on its own is $249.
Why 10 × 8 is the standard
Eight feet tall clears the top of the frame in a photo even when someone tall is standing in front of it. Ten feet wide fits three to four people shoulder to shoulder without anyone falling off the edge of the backdrop. Smaller than this and you get heads cropping the top or logos disappearing behind shoulders.
What you get
The graphic is 9 oz wrinkle-free fabric, dye-sublimated, single sided, with a deliberately low sheen so camera flash does not blow out. It is hemmed with 3″ pole pockets top and bottom. The stand is 1.625″ aluminum tube with locking collars and weighted feet, and a carry bag is included.
The stand adjusts from 69″ to 129″ wide and 36″ to 102″ tall — well beyond 10 × 8 in both directions.
Designing the repeat
The mistakes are consistent and easy to avoid:
- Logos too large. They should read in a cropped photo, not dominate it. Aim for roughly 6–10 inches wide for a typical wordmark.
- A grid that is too neat. Stagger the rows. A perfect grid means a person standing in front can block an entire column of a sponsor's logo.
- Ignoring the head zone. Between about 5 and 6 feet from the floor, faces cover the artwork. Keep the most important logo out of that band or repeat it often enough that some instances always show.
- Forgetting the pole pockets. The hem seam is visible about 3 inches in from the top and bottom — keep artwork clear of that strip.

When 10 × 8 is not the right size
- Large group photos. For six or more people in one shot you want a wider backdrop. We list one size; a printer offering 8 ft × 20 ft is the better call.
- Low ceilings. Some venues cannot take an 8 ft backdrop plus clearance. Measure before ordering — the stand does adjust down to 36″.
- Repeated heavy travel. These are event backdrops, not trade-show hardware built for weekly transport.
- You already own a stand. Order the $249 graphic only and save $130.
