School events fail on logistics more than anything else. People cannot find the entrance, they do not know which door, they park in the wrong lot, and by the time they reach the table they are annoyed. Almost all of that is solved with six directional signs and an arrow. It is the least glamorous part of the order and it is the part that changes how the evening goes.
The order is usually the same shape: a handful of directionals for the road and the car park, one or two big signs at the entrance, a banner for the main table or the fence, and — for anything outdoors in spring or autumn — a tent. Buy the directionals generic ("PARKING", "ENTRANCE", an arrow) and they work for every event for years. Buy the entrance sign dated and it does not.
