What Size Banner Do I Need for a Fence?

• 2′ × 4′ — $40. Small storefronts, table fronts, tight fence panels. Read from roughly 30–50 ft.
• 2′ × 6′ — $50. The most common all-round size. Good for a sponsor banner on a ballfield fence.
• 2′ × 8′ — $60. Long and readable from the road. The usual choice for construction fencing and roadside frontage.
• 3′ × 6′ — $70. More vertical space for a logo or a mascot. Best where people are on foot or standing.

The sizing rule

Work from letter height, not banner size. One inch of letter height reads from about 10 feet. If drivers pass 100 feet away, your main line needs to be roughly 10 inches tall — which on a 2 ft tall banner means one line of text and a logo, nothing more. Deciding the message first and sizing the banner to fit it produces better results than picking a size and cramming.

Mounting on a chain-link fence

Every banner comes hemmed on all four sides with brass grommets every 2 feet — both included, not upcharges. Use zip ties or bungee balls through the grommets rather than rope: they hold tighter and are quicker to remove.

Wind is what destroys fence banners. On an exposed run, ask for wind slits, or choose mesh instead of solid vinyl so air passes through. A solid 2′ × 8′ banner on an open fence in a gale acts like a sail and will either tear at the grommets or take the fence panel with it.
