The sign by the door

Cafés, salons, gyms, dispensaries, farm stands, church halls — anywhere people walk past an entrance, a sandwich board on the sidewalk is what turns them in. The SimpoSign II is the lightweight member of the Plasticade Signicade family: a one-piece molded white frame, hinged at the top, with a recessed pocket on each face that takes a 22″ × 28″ sign.

Both pockets come filled. We print your artwork on two separate 4 mm coroplast inserts, one face each, — the same UV-printed board as our yard signs — and ship them in the frame, ready to stand up. When the special changes, lift the inserts out and drop in new ones.

Designing for a sidewalk sign

It is read by someone walking past at ten feet. One headline, three or four words, in the top third.
Then the offer or the hours, then one way to act — “walk in”, a phone number, a short URL.
Keep everything inside the dashed safe line; the outer half inch is under the frame.
Light background, dark type reads best in daylight. Reverse it for a menu board look.
A QR code works at 4″ square or larger, in the lower half where a phone can reach it.
Use the back pocket. A second message facing the other direction costs nothing extra — the second insert is in the price.

One person, no tools, about a minute.

Open the frame at the hinge and set it on the ground where you want it; clip the stabilizing bar between the two halves.

Fill the hollow base with sand or water through the plug if the sign will live outdoors. Dry sand is easier to move later; water is quicker.

The inserts ship in the pockets. To change one, lift it straight up and out, and drop the new one in from the top.

To store, pull the bar, fold flat and lean it inside. Bring it in for storms — a weighted base handles wind, not a gale.

If an insert rattles

Coroplast expands a little in heat and shrinks in cold, so a pocket that was snug in July can rattle in January. A strip of clear tape across the top edge inside the pocket stops it; it never affects the print.

What exactly is printed?

Two separate 22″ × 28″ coroplast inserts, each printed on one face. One drops into the front pocket of the frame and one into the back, so the sign reads from both directions. Send one file and we print it twice, or send two files named FRONT and BACK for different messages. Each insert carries print on one face only, and we do not sell the frame with a single insert.

How is this different from your $119 A-frame?

The $119 A-frame is a black steel frame with a 24″ × 18″ landscape sign — the real-estate rider shape. The SimpoSign is a molded plastic sandwich board with tall 22″ × 28″ portrait pockets, a hollow base you can weight with sand or water, and inserts you can swap in seconds. Restaurants, salons, gyms and shops that change the message pick this one; agents who need a rider usually pick the steel one.

Will it blow over?

Empty, it weighs 10 lb and behaves like any sandwich board — fine on a sidewalk, not fine in a gale. Fill the hollow base with sand or water and it stays put in ordinary wind. Fold it and bring it in when a storm is forecast; the inserts pop out so you can bring just those in if you prefer.

Can I change the graphics later?

That is the point of the pockets. The inserts drop in from the top and lift straight out, no tools. Order a fresh pair any time by emailing us the new artwork and quoting your original order — we keep your file. Many shops order a seasonal set and rotate them.

Is it OK outdoors all year?

The frame is UV-stable plastic and the inserts are UV-printed 4 mm coroplast, the same board as our yard signs, so sun and rain are fine. Ink will fade slowly after a couple of seasons in full southern sun; a new pair of inserts is far cheaper than a new frame.

How much of the insert shows?

About ½″ on every edge sits under the pocket lip, so the visible area is roughly 21″ × 27″. Our template marks that band; keep text and logos inside the dashed safe line and fill the background all the way to the edge.

How many should I order?

One per entrance is the usual answer. Each frame is priced flat — order 2, pay 2× — with the same artwork on every frame. Different artwork for a second location? Place a second order so the files stay matched to the right frame.
