How Many Postcards Do I Need for a Neighborhood?
Five hundred is the right number for most contractors: it covers a typical residential street several times over, or every house within sight of three or four jobs. 500 4″ × 6″ cards are $119 — $0.24 each — printed on both sides, shipped free. A crew hands a whole street in about twenty minutes.
The arithmetic
A suburban street has 20 to 40 houses. The houses that can see your truck and your sign from their driveway — the ones that actually convert — number 30 to 60 per job. At two or three jobs a week, 500 cards is roughly a month of “we just did the roof at number 14” handouts, and reorders are cheaper per card at 1,000.
100 cards ($49) is enough to try it on two jobs. 250 ($79) is a fortnight. 1,000 ($189, $0.19 each) is the number to buy once the first batch has produced a call.
What to print on it
Front: a photo of the finished job, your name, one line saying what you did and where (“New roof, Maple Street, last week”), and a phone number big enough to read from arm’s length. Back: three services, one offer with a date, the same phone number, a QR code. Both sides are printed at every price, so use the back.
Leave a blank strip on the back if you might stamp and address some of them later. A 4″ × 6″ is within USPS postcard size; a 5″ × 7″ is not. We print and ship the cards to you; we do not address or mail them.
Ordering
Send a logo and a photo, or a finished file, and a designer lays it out and emails a proof within 2–4 business hours. The cards print the next business day after you approve and ship FedEx Priority Overnight — in hand about three business days after ordering. When another printer will cost you less
- You want them addressed and mailed to a list. We ship the cards to you. A mail house handles lists, postage and drops; that is a different service from ours.
- You are covering a whole town. At 5,000 or more, a volume printer beats our per-card price.
- You need door hangers. A 4×6 tucks into a door frame fine, but if you want the die-cut hook, that is a different product we do not make.
